Jakarta Travel Guide 2025: Enjoying Jakarta’s Volcanoes, Pagodas, Rainforests, and Beautiful Beaches
When fiery volcanic lava collides with the tranquil reliefs of ancient Buddhist pagodas, when moon-like seas of sand connect with the lush edges of tropical rainforests – Indonesia, the archipelago of a thousand islands passionately kissed by equatorial sunlight, is staging a stunning dialogue between Earth’s miracles and the epic of civilization.
If you’ve long grown tired of cookie-cutter checklist-style travel, you must follow Zouba Wang to Indonesia and experience this “extraordinary unconventional shock”!
In June this year, the Indonesian volcano photography and cultural geography tour successfully concluded. From the sunrise spectacle at Mount Bromo to the blue fire phenomenon at Mount Ijen, from thousand-year-old historical sites to the island of Bali, the breathtaking scenes couldn’t even fit in a 256GB memory card. “Worth the trip” and “far exceeded expectations” became frequent comments from everyone.
With this recognition and expectation, we launched the second edition of the ‘Indonesia Geography and Culture Tour’ departing on August 27th!
We have refined and upgraded the itinerary to version 2.0. The combination of three flight segments + sightseeing train + Komodo Island is simply unbeatable, and we’ve also incorporated the unique charm of Bali, allowing you to experience richer geographical and cultural features.
The magnificence of volcanoes, the power of waterfalls, the splendor of beaches, the leisure of train rides, the mystery of prehistoric giant lizards, the profundity of ancient sites… Here, whether you want to shoot epic landscape photos or atmospheric travel portraits, you can capture it all with ease.
At Mount Bromo, we spent ample time waiting for the sunrise, quietly awaiting the sunset, and gazing at the starry sky. Every frame was a cinematic masterpiece by the Creator;
Watching the sunrise from Mount Ijen is an ultimate experience of ‘body in purgatory, eyes in heaven’; and encountering prehistoric giant lizards on Komodo Island is such an extraordinary encounter that one must try once in a lifetime!
Volcano Rhapsody: Walking on the Pulse of the Earth
01 Mount Bromo
Under the lens of ‘National Geographic’, this ‘stand-in for the moon’ features a gray-black sea of sand surging like waves, with thick smoke billowing from the crater like a gateway to another world. Every sunrise is a creator’s magic of light and shadow.
02Ijen Volcano
The world’s most photogenic “Blue Flame Volcano”. When night falls, sulfur gases burn into a blue galaxy;
Hiking 2799 meters to reach the ‘hell on earth’, yet at dawn encountering the gentleness of the emerald volcanic lake, the extreme contrast leaves one speechless.
Rainforest Secret Realm: Natural Landscapes Buried Deep
01 Cambrian Waterfall
Cambrian Waterfall: Known as the “Water Curtain Wonderland in the Rainforest”, it is a place like a dreamy fairyland – Cambrian Waterfall is also known as the Thousand-Layer Waterfall.
It is located in Surabaya, Indonesia, hidden deep in the tropical rainforest. With its unique circular water curtain and magnificent momentum, it has become a shining pearl among Indonesia’s natural landscapes.
Not only is it a natural landscape, but it is also a dual feast for the eyes and the soul. Here, you can feel the incredible workmanship of nature, listen to the most primitive sounds of the earth. Every photo seems as if it could become the cover of ‘Chinese National Geography’, making it a potential viral travel destination that should not be missed.
Civilization’s Imprint: Journeying Through Historical Sacred Sites of a Thousand Years
01Borobudur
The pinnacle of Buddhist architecture in the 9th century, the world’s largest Buddhist temple ruins. 2,672 relief panels are carved with the epic cycle of Buddhist classics, 1,000 Buddha statues silently watch the alternating dawn and dusk. Listed as a World Heritage Site in 1991, the solemnity of this thousand-year-old sacred place is enough to cleanse the soul.
02Prambanan
The pinnacle of Hindu temple architecture, the 47-meter-high Shiva temple soars into the sky, with lifelike deities and war elephants depicted on the reliefs. The moss growing between the stone crevices are footnotes written by a thousand years of time. Along with Borobudur, it is known as one of the Four Great Ancient Eastern Wonders.
Through Time and Space: Visiting the Secret Territory of Prehistoric Giant Lizards
01Komodo Island
Due to its geographical isolation from the continental shelf, Komodo Island has preserved prehistoric landscapes and living fossils – the largest prehistoric reptile still existing on Earth, the ‘Komodo Dragon’.
Tropical savannas, rainforests, and pink coral reef beaches intertwine here. Stepping on this land feels like traveling back to ancient times.
Leisurely Journey: A Flowing Scroll Painting on Sightseeing Trains
01Java Island
As Indonesia’s “Island of Soul”, Java Island is home to 112 volcanoes (35 of which are active). The volcanic belt running through the island blends with the vibrant life of over 100 million people, contributing 60% of the country’s GDP. It is the most beautiful collection of “volcano + rainforest + countryside” landscapes in Southeast Asia.
Travel through aboard a panoramic sightseeing train, where rainforests, rice paddies, coconut groves, volcanoes, local residences and temples form a moving pastoral poem: the faintly visible silhouette of volcanoes in the morning clouds, the golden mosque domes flashing past the windows in the afternoon, all hiding the most vivid daily life of the islanders.
Here, you can explore the ‘Sea of Sand’ of Mount Bromo volcano, satisfying your imagination about the universe; go deep into the Cambrian Waterfall Sinkhole, experiencing the joy of exploration while hiking in the stream;
When your fingertips touch the thousand-year-old reliefs of Borobudur and Prambanan, when the jeep rushes up to the crater of Mount Bromo to welcome the eruption of sulfur smoke — you will suddenly understand that local proverb: ‘Volcanoes are destroyers, yet also the mother of life’.
This country, which weaves together the magnificence of volcanic geology, the profundity of religious art, the vibrancy of rainforest ecology, the splendor of marine landforms, with indigenous culture, colonial history, and religious fusion into its very fabric, is calling out in a unique tone woven from geography and humanity: Don’t hesitate any longer, come here to feel the pulse of the Earth and understand the rings of civilization!
In August, the upgraded Zouba.com Indonesia 2.0 itinerary awaits you for this shocking appointment with Earth and civilization!
When others are taking photos of poolside breakfast in Bali, your social media check-in shows you taking the pulse of the Earth at an active volcano crater.
