Luxury Hotel Rankings: “World’s 50 Best” Hotel List Released, The Best Hotels
On September 17, the “World’s 50 Best” hotel list was released, with hotels from 37 destinations across six continents making the list.
Topping the list is the Capella Bangkok located on the Chao Phraya River, which rose 10 places from 11th position on last year’s list, while also being named “Asia’s Best Hotel 2024”. The hotel is surrounded by lush gardens, with its tiered architecture allowing all guest rooms to face water or riverside views.
Following closely is Passalacqua on Lake Como in Italy, located in an 18th-century villa. Rosewood Hong Kong dropped one place from last year to rank third.
Notably, a total of 19 hotels in Asia made the list, with Bangkok and Japan accounting for four and three respectively. The Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo, which opened in April this year, ranked 22nd and received the ‘Best New Hotel’ award. Unfortunately, no hotels from mainland China entered the list.
In Europe, where legendary and luxury hotels gather, 13 hotels were selected. Ranking high is the Cheval Blanc Paris in fourth place, with the judges commenting, “Where riverside luxury meets world-class cuisine”. The London OWO Raffles Hotel, which opened just a year ago and was renovated from the former Old War Office building, a Grade II listed building, ranks 13th.
A total of 9 hotels in North America made the list, with Maroma from Mexico being the highest-ranked hotel in the region at 18th place, while The Carlyle at 30th place is the best-performing American hotel on the list. Notably, Four Seasons at The Surf Club in Florida and Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles are both new entries on the list, ranking 34th and 35th respectively.
This is the hotel list launched by The World’s 50 Best last year, following their restaurant and bar lists. It selects hotels worth staying at around the world through anonymous voting by over 500 industry experts. When it comes to “the best,” everyone has a different answer in their heart, especially when it comes to choosing hotels. Major lists can only provide reference for travelers; what truly touches the heart and leaves beautiful memories is often a moment of emotional resonance.
