Hello everyone, I’m just an ordinary worker who has lived in New York for 15 years. Through my own experiences and those of people around me, I’ll share with you the most authentic America.
In recent years, more and more people have been coming to America to study, travel, work, and visit friends and relatives. In their leisure time, they will definitely visit various tourist attractions. I’ve received many private messages asking for travel information, so here, based on my humble opinion, I’ve compiled a list of ten must-visit attractions for everyone.
- Statue of Liberty.
Many TV scenes about New York will definitely include a shot of the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty did not originate in America but was a gift from France to the United States. Located on Liberty Island in Manhattan, it depicts a robed liberty goddess holding a torch high in her right hand and the Declaration of Independence in her left hand. At her feet are broken shackles, also symbolizing freedom. The Statue of Liberty stands 93 meters tall and attracts numerous tourists daily, making it one of New York City’s landmarks. You can buy tickets to visit the island or take a tour around it. Let me share a money-saving tip: without going to the island, you can take the ferry from Manhattan to Staten Island, from which you can also clearly see the Statue of Liberty.
- Manhattan Times Square
Manhattan’s Times Square is also one of the must-visit attractions when coming to New York. Known as “The Crossroads of the World,” especially at night when Manhattan is brightly lit with large neon billboards that make it hard to tell whether it’s night or day. Being here will make you strongly feel the intense urban atmosphere of Manhattan. The reason I’ve listed Washington D.C. is because it’s the capital of the United States. Friends visiting America for the first time, especially older ones, will definitely want to see the capital, just like how parents traveling for the first time would choose Beijing. Washington D.C. is more of a historical city, home to the White House (the office and residence of the U.S. President), the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol, and the Lincoln Memorial, one of the filming locations for Forrest Gump. No tickets are needed for free visits to all these sites. In addition, Washington D.C. has almost entirely free museums, which are well worth visiting if time permits.
- Niagara Falls
Although Niagara Falls is not the largest waterfall in the world, it is definitely a waterfall that will leave you in awe. Located on the border between the United States and Canada, part of it is in the United States and part is in Canada. If you only stay on the American side, you can’t see the full panorama of the falls; you can cross into Canada to see the complete view. The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona, USA, and is one of the world’s great canyons and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. With an average width of 16 kilometers, the canyon reaches a maximum depth of 2,133 meters. Words cannot describe the awe you feel when seeing it; only by being there in person can you understand why it is acclaimed as a world wonder. Native Americans live here, and if time and budget allow, you can also take a helicopter tour of the canyon.
- Antelope Canyon.
Antelope Canyon is also located in Arizona, USA, and is a psychedelic world of colors and light. With beautiful scenery, rich natural landscapes, unique caves, and gentle curves, combined with the many minerals in the rocks themselves, it presents multiple colors such as orange, yellow, and purple under natural light, making it exceptionally gorgeous. I saw photos from a friend and was simply amazed, but my friend told me that the photos don’t even capture one-tenth of its actual beauty. This is one of the world’s geological wonders and a paradise for photography enthusiasts.
- Florida’s Seven Mile Bridge
The Seven Mile Bridge is located at the southernmost tip of Florida and is the longest of the 42 overseas bridges connecting the US mainland to Key West, the southernmost point. With a total length of 6.79 miles (approximately 10.93 kilometers), it is named the Seven Mile Bridge. Driving on the bridge with endless sea on both sides creates a feeling as if you are a free and unfettered soul.
- Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone is the first national park in the United States, primarily located in Wyoming, with small parts in Montana and Idaho. Yellowstone is famous for its abundant wildlife and geothermal resources, with Old Faithful being one of its most renowned attractions. The park has one of the richest ecosystems, and in my opinion, it’s the most worthwhile national park to visit. It’s also on my travel itinerary.
In addition, the United States has many other particularly famous attractions and various national parks. Many national parks are free and only require a parking fee. For paid national parks, if time allows, you can purchase an annual pass for only $80, which can be used by two people simultaneously. Compared to the significant financial and material resources needed to maintain the national parks, this is almost equivalent to being free.
